September Professional Development

Achievement Series Training Chris Owens will be training Jamie Weisbeck, Dustin Jahraus, Bonnie Gemar, and Jason Rabenberg on how to be a local controller of Achievement Series within their buildings. This training will occur on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. Teachers will meet in the high school. Reading Recovery Tanya Ford and Lynnette Kuehl will be attending training in Pierre on September 9, 2010. The training will be a continuation of training that they received last year on Reading Recovery. Writing to Learn Training As we all know SD Codified Law requires all public schools to administer an annual writing assessment. With this the state has adopted an online formative assessment model. Mrs. Loxi Shillingstad will participate in the training of this program on September 13, 2010. This model will test students in grades 5,7, & 10 using an online literacy program which provides immediate feedback on essay and summary writing activities. This should give teachers the ability to use data immediately to identify programs to help in determining strategies to help in promoting achievement. Curriculum Meeting Mr. Bohlander will attend a Curriculum Directors meeting in Pierre on September 15, 2010. School Improvement Meeting School Improvement Director, Chris Bohlander, and Elementary Principal, Jill Olson will be meeting with SST consultant Merry Bleeker at 1:00pm on September 22, 2010 to discuss the Mobridge-Pollock School Improvement Plan. Achievement Series Training Mobridge-Pollock Middle School and High School Teachers will all receive training on how to utilize Achievement Series in their classrooms as a formative assessment tool. The training will be done by Chris Owens from the ESA. Training will take place for Middle School Teachers on September 22nd and 27th during 7th period. High School Teacher will be trained on September 28th and 30th during 8th period. School Wide Title I Parent Advisory Meeting Held September 29, 2011 a School Wide Title I meeting was held in the Mobridge-Pollock HS Commons Area. The agenda focused on programs that would be developed throughout the year to meet the needs of the students. Much of the discussion pertained to how Title dollars would be spent in relation to Professional Development and meeting the regulations.
